Fall native snowberries on Joanne's hand woven towel
I received a present today! Joanne is a weaver -- and -- she sent me two lovely woven hand towels as a gift. Joanne's blog is interesting to follow as she goes about her daily activities in small town Ohio. Check out her blog, Cup on the Bus -- right now she is planting fall bulbs on her blog and has help from her granddaughters Emily and Laura. Thanks Joanne.
Oh my word; look what you did with textures! Wonderful picture.
ReplyDeleteJ0oanne -- The weaving textures of the towel contribute a nice background when taking photos of plants. their use is two fold -- hand towel and background. I'm having fun with them. Thanks again -- barbara
DeleteHome made gifts are the best!!
ReplyDeleteTabor, I agree, when I saw the texture of the towels I knew I would be using them for nature's plants as they give nice depth to photo backgrounds. thanks -- barbara

ReplyDeleteThe photo of towel and berries is very nice. I've lately come to know a weaver and find that the hand looms items are very special to see and to use.
June -- no duplicate. Folks like you and Joanne have a special feel for material art. Also, in the case of your quilt making and Joanne's hand weaving a lot of patience and a love of what you do. thanks -- barbara
DeleteThis is not your everyday towel. No wonder you are pleased.
ReplyDeletevisualnorway -- this towel has lots of intricate textures. Will be fun to use for some backgrounds in my photos. thanks for the comment. -- barbara
DeleteNever heard of snowberries. Now, I have. I learn stuff from reading the wanderings of bloggers.
ReplyDeletebirdman -- here is a good article on snowberries -- http://www.bentler.us/eastern-washington/plants/shrubs/snowberry.aspx
Deletethanks -- barbara
I love how you honored this special gift by adding your own artistry to the the gorgeous towels. Such subtle heathery colors!!
ReplyDeleteRita -- My snowberries on my post were beginning to shrivel a bit but I still photographed them on the towel as the colors blended quite well together. The actual snowberry bush is a new discovery for me -- as far as actually seeing one. thanks for the comment.
DeleteHow nice of her. Lovely snowberries and towel!
ReplyDeleteThe snowberries were picked along a fence line in a parking lot. Apparently the bush was a volunteer. I am finding all kinds of interesting plants along fence lines here in Oregon. Guess this is good territory for growing just about any plant. The towels are so pretty I don't want to use them -- but I am sure I will. -- barbara
