  1. What would a photographer's life be without buildings like this?

    1. Birdman - Would be nice -- there should be a movement to save all the old barns in the US. Actually there is a movement but it is under-funded. thanks -- barbara

  6. Really? A movement to save old barns? Whoever they are had better move faster because my visual memory is over-populated with structures like the one you show here. In a moment of rain, vagrant fire they could disappear.

  7. naomi -- I know that the landscape is full of decaying farm building and houses. We just don't seem to have the wherewithal to save it all. The folks trying to save barns can be found at this link:

  8. The barn shown as clear water creek is incorrectly labeled. The barn is located on Cope Property on Clear Creek in the Disputanta area of Rockcastle County Kentucky on Davis Branch Road. The barn is on my family's property and my uncle owns the barn and the surrounding property as well. My father and family grew up on that farm. I remember playing in that barn as a child in the 60's for many hours.

    1. Anonymous -- I usually don't reply to Anonymous comments but you seem legitimate as you know the area well from your comment. I used the words Clear Water Creek as this is the name someone in Rockcastle called it. I usually don't give details on my blog's architectural photos such as you have given in your comment. I give information on the location and owner of architectural structures when I have permission. Otherwise, I only list the county. I met your uncle who was very nice but we only had a short talk as he was leaving for work. Therefore, in this case, I gave only the county and the nearby creek. I thought the barn was wonderful along with the two dogs I met on the property. Your uncle invited me back for more history on some of the nearby architecture and I plan to do so once spring arrives. I appreciate you nice comment. -- barbara
