COY CARRIAGE HOUSE TRAGEDY - PART THREE

So on a 2011 sunny day I grabbed my camera and jumped in my Tacoma  and rode off - my destination the carriage house to take photos.

The ghost stories were not going to scare me away.

As I neared the place I noticed lights flashing, emergency vehicles of all types and uniformed folks walking around. The vehicles were straddled all along the road on both sides. There were ambulances and firetrucks pulled up on the bluff in front of the carriage house.

Oh no, I thought, a serious accident has occurred.  I slowed down as I got nearer and wove through the chaos.   I rode down the road a bit and decided to turn around. I felt a strange chill over my whole body for some reason. Not from thinking of  ghosts but of something more serious. I had to know what happened.

When I drove back through the tangle of vehicles I stopped and asked a man what happened. He told me that two men had been shot and killed in front of the carriage house.

The word timing instantly entered my mind.  Is this what life is about - timing

  1. What an intriguing photograph at the top and a mystery to match. "Timing" seems to be a huge part of how we view the world. I'm always fascinated by this phenomena,

    1. Teresa, I've always wondered if we kept track of our incidents that were dictated by timing would we eventually see a pattern? If we did denote a pattern would we make an effort to change it somehow??? Or maybe we mentally could not change it as it falls in an unknown realm. -- barbara

  2. A lot of life does come down to timing. Those "what if" moments, just like this one.

    1. Michelle -- Like running into an old friend you haven't seen in ten years at a highway rest area in another part of the country. Timing is at play all the time I think -- thanks - barbara

  3. Absolutely. Every success we have depends on timing. It's akin to fate and luck and personally I strongly believe in all three. The photos are so intriguing. Food for thought here Barbara.

    1. Mimi -- I purposely edited the top photo to set the mood of how I felt that day, and still, feel somewhat today about this place. I felt that writing about the carriage house could put the matter to rest. -- barbara

  5. Barbara, the chills that ran through your body are another eerie part of your story. May I ask what the motive for the murders were? Gee, this is exciting.

I think life is all about timing. Wouldn't it be cool to know how many things we've been spared because of tiny divine interventions. Thanks for the blog trilogy.

    1. Nature Weaver - I can't explain how I felt after this incident only that I felt a need to put it behind me instantly. Later, the next day I found out it was a father and his adult son that were killed. That is all and I had no need nor wanted to know more to this story. It still haunts me to some degree. Would be interesting to know how many times we have been spared from some incident happening to us. Thanks for the comment -- barbara

  7. All these answers reveal how human it is to try to make sense of what might be entirely coincidental. Some places and some kinds of events, like accidentally meeting someone not seen for years, move us, so we call it something purposeful: fate, divine intervention, karma. We have pattern making minds and those patterns often enrich or give a sense of meaning to our lives. This is a remarkable set of photographs and incidents you relate, especially because you give us the photos, we blog readers bring our own patterns to your story -- thus we all share, in our own ways, the wonders and mysteries of human life.
