FOUND: A COTTAGE TO CALL HOME!

Credit:

Finally after more than a year of searching I have found the ideal place for me to live. Yesterday, I contracted to rent a cozy cottage that is twenty-two miles from the Oregon coast. It also has the added attraction of the Siuslaw river flowing past the property through this mountainous valley before entering the ocean at Florence, Oregon. I was discriminating and patient enough to find just the right area which was a reminder to me that all good things take time. Although I have to admit that at times it was very exasperating.

It is out in the boonies yet there are folks nearby. I have a lot of work ahead of me with the moving and all. I will not be blogging for a few weeks. Will tell you more about the area and cottage when I return.

Happy trails to everyone.

    1. Joanne -- It will be an interesting "long term" experience with the temperate forests of Oregon. I've lived for short stints in the forests before -- had a few surprises from Mother Nature so I need to be prepared in thought that things happen ------- one can almost always handle what Mother throws your way. thanks -- barbara

    1. Barbara -- I often look at your photos of water flowing down a stream or laying sedately in a lake setting. My cottage has both which gives me a great feeling of moving to this location. Nice metaphors that you have used to describe my move back to nature. thanks -- barbara

    2. I got a double myself someplace the other day. Don't have a clue.

I forgot to say on mine how important rivers are to me and it's great you get to live right over one.

There MUST be something in there one could catch.

    3. One Fly-- I am not a fishing kind of person but I do know that the Siuslaw River has Coho and Chinook salmon. I imagine there are lots of folks that fish the river. My attraction to it is its beauty and the wild things surrounding it. -- barbara

    1. Rita -- thanks -- just touring the area where I will live told me that there is a wealth of discoveries to investigate. But until that time when I can roam the area I am doing all that is necessary in order to move from one place to another. My new place is four hours from Portland which means I will be on the road a lot until I'm settled. -- barbara

    1. June -- Hopefully my moving schedule will be without snags. Lots to do to get settled -- you know what I am talking about. Will attempt, while I settle, to read some of the blogs I visit on a regular basis. I will have a much slower internet ability out in the area I am moving to --- internet was the one thing I made sure I could get out in the boonies. thanks -- barbara

  18. Wonderful! I like the cottage ideal out in the sticks but with a few neighbors. That exactly where we live in Minnesota and just returned from a month of something similar on the Gulf Coast in Florida....:)
