FOUND: A COTTAGE TO CALL HOME!
Credit:
Finally after more than a year of searching I have found the ideal place for me to live. Yesterday, I contracted to rent a cozy cottage that is twenty-two miles from the Oregon coast. It also has the added attraction of the Siuslaw river flowing past the property through this mountainous valley before entering the ocean at Florence, Oregon. I was discriminating and patient enough to find just the right area which was a reminder to me that all good things take time. Although I have to admit that at times it was very exasperating.
It is out in the boonies yet there are folks nearby. I have a lot of work ahead of me with the moving and all. I will not be blogging for a few weeks. Will tell you more about the area and cottage when I return.
Happy trails to everyone.
Barbara, I'm so happy for you and looking forward to reading more about it, seeing the pictures. It sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa -- And I hope to be reading some of your latest when I come back online. thanks for the nice comment -- barbara
ReplyDeleteSounds well nigh perfect. Looking forward to seeing it when you're settled in.
ReplyDeleteJoanne -- It will be an interesting "long term" experience with the temperate forests of Oregon. I've lived for short stints in the forests before -- had a few surprises from Mother Nature so I need to be prepared in thought that things happen ------- one can almost always handle what Mother throws your way. thanks -- barbara
DeleteAnother great life adventure. Hope to see the cottage and area when you are all settled and feel at home!
ReplyDeleteTabor -- i am so looking forward to this adventure. i feel fortunate to have found this wild place -- its beauty grabs me. -- thanks -- barbara
DeleteHow exciting for you! Can't wait to see pictures :)
ReplyDeleteStarr White -- I can't wait to start taking photos at this new place.Right now my cameras are packed in a box waiting to be transported to the cottage. As I am sure you have experienced -- the moving part is not the best part of moving. -- thanks -- barbara
DeleteWell, a nature lover returns to her roots! So happy for you. May your move flow as smoothly as the waters of your new river...without any rapids of course.
ReplyDeleteBarbara -- I often look at your photos of water flowing down a stream or laying sedately in a lake setting. My cottage has both which gives me a great feeling of moving to this location. Nice metaphors that you have used to describe my move back to nature. thanks -- barbara
DeleteCongratulations and happy new home! It sounds wonderful - can't wait to take the virtual tour once you've settled in! (Hope you'll be able to adopt a shelter/rescue dog soon now, too!) :-)
ReplyDeleteLaloofah -- Oh, as soon as I am settled in and know the ropes I will be off to the Humane Society to pick out my new dog friend. I am excited about this move! --- thanks -- barbara
DeleteSounds great. Hope all goes well.
ReplyDeleteJohn -- This is a good move for me. I feel very lucky to have found this place. -- thanks -- barbara

ReplyDeleteMelissa -- yes, hopefully I can get the moving part over quickly and begin to enjoy the place. -- thanks for the comment -- barbara
DeleteNICE!! I'm happy for you Barbara.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warm remark One Fly -- Also when I left a comment on your most recent picture post it came out in triplicate???? --- barbara
DeleteI got a double myself someplace the other day. Don't have a clue.
DeleteI forgot to say on mine how important rivers are to me and it's great you get to live right over one.
There MUST be something in there one could catch.
One Fly-- I am not a fishing kind of person but I do know that the Siuslaw River has Coho and Chinook salmon. I imagine there are lots of folks that fish the river. My attraction to it is its beauty and the wild things surrounding it. -- barbara
DeleteCongratulations! I hope it will live up to you expectations and look forward to the reports.
ReplyDeletevisualnorway -- thanks for your comments. I think it will be quite the exciting place to live -- nature-wise that is --- barbara
DeleteBarbara, It sounds like you have found just the right home...I love the lesson about Patience and Persistance. Enjoy your many new discoveries and the feeling of coming home.
ReplyDeleteRita -- thanks -- just touring the area where I will live told me that there is a wealth of discoveries to investigate. But until that time when I can roam the area I am doing all that is necessary in order to move from one place to another. My new place is four hours from Portland which means I will be on the road a lot until I'm settled. -- barbara
DeleteCongratulations. Sounds perfect for you.
ReplyDeleteHattie -- thanks for the congratulations. I feel fortunate that I found this cozy cottage in the Siuslaw River area. I am sure you know the place and it beauty. --- barbara.
DeleteCongratulations. It sounds like a great choice and by spring you'll be all settled and ready for more exploring. I'll miss your posts but probably keep coming to the blog to keep up with your many side bar blogs which I read periodically. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteJune -- Hopefully my moving schedule will be without snags. Lots to do to get settled -- you know what I am talking about. Will attempt, while I settle, to read some of the blogs I visit on a regular basis. I will have a much slower internet ability out in the area I am moving to --- internet was the one thing I made sure I could get out in the boonies. thanks -- barbara
DeleteBirdman -- how nice of you to send me congrats -- I appreciate it --- barbara

DeleteWonderful! I like the cottage ideal out in the sticks but with a few neighbors. That exactly where we live in Minnesota and just returned from a month of something similar on the Gulf Coast in Florida....:)
ReplyDeletetroutbirder -- you are back from your southern haunts -- will slip over and read about your travels -- thanks -- barbara
