UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AT PIONEER PARK

This group of Saudi students embraced me in their lively talk and manners as I took their photos. They are friends -- enrolled at Portland State University -- most are freshmen at the school. A wonderful bunch of young men -- conversation was easy and fun.

    1. John -- Yes, the young seem to be hooked on being wired -- here in the states it seems like most young folks have ear buds. This bunch was very much into friendly conversation with me and I with them of course. Very enjoyable. thanks for the comment -- barbara

    1. June -- You are so right about this place. I believe the city's culture has evolved with an international flavor. Also good city planning and citizen involvement contributed to the vibrancy of Portland. I plan on learning more about Portland as the weeks and months pass by. thanks for your astute comment about broadening folk's perspectives -- we are in need of this right now in this world. -- barbara

    1. Melissa -- I think the existence of this park helps to give rise to a sense of community in Portland. It's open, large. and designed with people in mind. Parks like this should be in all big cities and probably are in many. thanks -- barbara

  7. It's nice to be around young people from other countries, as we experienced on the cruise we just took. The crew were mostly from Indonesia and the Philippines and were friendly and talkative.

    1. Hattie -- These students were full of life and good thoughts. I find some internationals seem so inquisitive about our lifestyle. So many American youths can barely give you the time of day however between the Saudis and I we had a very nice conversation. Glad your trip was such a success and you also had some nice interactions between you and the international crew. -- thanks for your comment -- barbara
