This group of Saudi students embraced me in their lively talk and manners as I took their photos. They are friends -- enrolled at Portland State University -- most are freshmen at the school. A wonderful bunch of young men -- conversation was easy and fun.

ReplyDeleteJohn -- Yes, the young seem to be hooked on being wired -- here in the states it seems like most young folks have ear buds. This bunch was very much into friendly conversation with me and I with them of course. Very enjoyable. thanks for the comment -- barbara

Also good city planning and citizen involvement contributed to the vibrancy of Portland. DeleteIt's nice to be around young people from other countries, as we experienced on the cruise we just took. The crew were mostly from Indonesia and the Philippines and were friendly and talkative.
ReplyDeleteHattie -- These students were full of life and good thoughts. I find some internationals seem so inquisitive about our lifestyle. So many American youths can barely give you the time of day however between the Saudis and I we had a very nice conversation.
