THREAT TO YOUR PERSONAL COMPUTER INFORMATION

I am still on my mini sabbatical, explorer's trail, or whatever one should call it. But I do try and keep up with what is happening in the world. This morning  I came across this information that blew my socks off. And maybe you dear reader will be stunned too by what the government is proposing. If you are at all interested in our government having complete access to all the information that runs through your computer without your knowledge please click or copy and paste the below link into your address box for the Democracy Now video with its accompanying article.

  3. You know, I wish I could get all up in arms about this, but I think the Russians and Chinese already have this, or are soon to have it and maybe at our folks should have a level playing field. But, I do not have an X-husband or nasty former boss or old stalker neighbor in my life.

  4. Off topic, but there is a frightening article in the new New Yorker about the Cascadia subduction zone.

    1. Hattie -- Absolutely frightening! I was totally unaware of the Cascadia subduction. Thanks for the info. I read about 5 articles on it after you alerted me. Gives me great pause as to whether I should remain in this area. Living in the valley of the Coastal Range and having the ocean only 22 miles from me gives an earthquake the opportunity to toast my area. Much food for thought -- thanks again -- barbara

  5. I do think I'm powerless over this...as I am over many other societal trends...the best I can do, is not rely too heavily on my computer...which works, as I still love old fashioned tools like paper and pen.
I did read several books about the state of computers & privacy...yes, there's a lot to this.

    1. Rita -- Folks all react differently to news like my above post. It really is a post alerting citizens to be aware of what the gov't is trying to do. My intent is to occasionally post news worthy items that are not getting the press coverage that they should. For the reader it is solely a FYI -- For Your Information. thanks for leaving your honest comment -- barbara

    1. visualnorway--- according to this New York Times July 15 report -- as of that date the digital key that the NSA is seeking to be made has not been implemented here in the US. The digital key would be used to unlock encrypted data. Here is the link to the New York Times report:
