    1. Joanne -- I didn't step in as I thought I might gain some (more) weight -- it seems to be a fairly established place in town -- thanks -- barbara

  3. So, is Portland known as Fat City, or did these good folks just take liberties?

    1. Barb -- Not as far as I know -- there seem to be a lot of young men and women hanging around restaurants-- outside at tables -- that seem quite slender -- must be due to all that bike riding I see in Portland! -- thanks -- barbara

  4. Doesn't feature in The Guide To Healthy And Stylish Eating. Much to the detriment of the healthy and stylish.

    1. John -- Not sure of their menu selections as I didn't enter the cafe. I just was taken by the sign's hookey-ness.Really like signs that express a salt of the earth feeling. thanks for the comment -- barbara

    1. I am so out of the loop -- did not realize there was going to be a full solar eclipse in 2017. I will have to find out more info on this. Glad you liked the sign -- thanks -- barbara

  7. And, I love the colors too! Is it still an active café? Reminds me of the catchy Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras...

    1. Rita -- It appeared active when I walked by it -- a small home town looking place Maybe next time I am over there I will peek inside for a cup of coffee. Not much on standard western food but maybe they serve some healthy food too? thanks for the comment -- barbara

    1. Diane -- well it is a neighborhood community located in the far southwestern part of Portland. It seems like a small town to me but it is not. But how about being the mayor of Portland! -- thanks for the comment -- barbara

  10. Hi Barbara, Google took over the site where I stored my photographs and we in the UK needed to link the blog to Google+ I think to keep them, but I didn't want to do that. So I lost the photos. There were 400 deleted, haven't the time to replace them. Very wicked, they deleted the heading on my blog that a blog designer put together and I paid for. Never mind, a new beginning. Thanks so much for your visit.

    1. Carole Anne -- I know that Google has been changing the way of running its sites. This has been a bone of contention with some folks. I cannot believe what they did to your site. Are they getting a bit pushy? It's not like they don't make enough money. You lost some valuable photos and a nice header as a result! Hmmm. -- barbara

  11. A very nice one - but perhaps not the place to eat if you are on a diet? :-)

    1. RuneE -- The name does suggest a diet that will make one fat -- but maybe it is just a fun name to the owner??? -- thanks -- barbara

  12. In spite of my wife disbelieving nature, I was recently given some support from a well founded research study that in spite of the prevailing view...... fat is good for you. Its the carbs that do you in. I like pigs....:)

  13. troutbirder -- did your study mention what kind of fats are good for you? Of course trans fats are bad but I do believe that saturated and mono fats are good for you. Carbs are bad if they are processed (any processed is a no-no) but we do need some carbs -- this is according to what I have read -- I am not a nutritionist but I do try to eat healthy foods. I guess to eat in moderation is the best but I have to admit that some days that can be difficult. I like pigs too -- they're smart! thanks -- barbara
