NIGHT TRAIN

Off in the distance, is the soulful moan of a travelling train
on this cold starless night.

Reminds me that my soundless home awaits the
spirits that speak through this distant howling.

Saying, "see how the night sounds can calm
your mind, folding it away from your ephemeral dark."

Listen.

Listen for the train's howl  in the quiet of the night

  1. OK, how did you do that? The photo, of course. Great poem too.

  2. Barbara -- thanks for the nice comment. Regarding the photo -- used Picasa; found "soft focus" under the "paint brush" icon, clicked on it and then could move the center point to the area I wanted to have a clear focus. The blur will automatically occur outside the focus area. Usually don't fool much with my photos but in this case wanted to give an aura to the window (of the mind).-- barbara

    1. Good poem Barbara. I once rode a night train from the East Coast and you could hear the 'howl' as you travelled.

    2. Night rides on Amtrak are so soothing -- I think. Almost therapeutic. Since I don't fly anymore trains have become quite familiar to me. thanks for the comment -- barbara

  7. I must find some fitting blues to play to this one - very nice treatment of that photo!

PS No symbolism in my last post - just a photo of a multifaceted, curved mirror :-)
