VERNACULAR SMALL BUNGALOW

Located in a residential area -- even though small in size -- this home stood out with its refreshing color of green. A home well taken care of -- its age is about one hundred or so. Vernacular because it was the popular or traditional style of its era. Sweet place found in Camas, Washington!

  3. That little green house looks well loved and suggests caring and slightly eccentric inhabitants (the green IS unusual -- in a very nice way). I hope the person or people who live there feel as happy s the house suggests.

    1. June -- I've always been drawn to the folk element in houses. They portray the culture and the owner's signature all wrapped up into one symbol -- the house. Folk stirs the creativity in one's mind and allows the boundaries to stretch. -- thanks -- barbara -- FOLKWAYS NOTEBOOK

  4. I wonder who sits in that window and looks out...someone who does care about their small house definitely!

    1. Barbara -- I know. I thought about cropping the window and calling the result "the blue chair window." Studying houses creates more questions than answers. -- thanks -- barbara -- FOLKWAYS NOTEBOOK

  5. Well cared for, but is that gravel or dirt around the house. I would think in a rainy state one needs more ground cover of some type.

    1. Tabor -- I find these folksy houses joyful. Built with probably virgin timber from the local forests this house is a memory treasure of our past housing history. -- thanks -- barbara -- FOLKWAYS NOTEBOOK

  7. I've never seen a tiny home like this! You do find treasures! I lived in a 100 year old Bungalow for many years. It was charming, but the taking care of part was intensive. I've seen some small old homes in Maine, but sometimes they aren't well taken car of...Take care, happy exploring, Rita

    1. Rita -- I remember driving down the coast in Maine and viewing some lovely old homes each with a barn attached. Hopefully these are not the homes that are not being taken care of as they added so much history to the area. Nice that you lived in a bungalow -- I am familiar with the cost factor in keeping up an old home. thanks -- barbara -- FOLKWAYS NOTEBOOK
