RURAL CHURCH LADY

She ran a church rummage sale.
Where I bought some old clay planters.
We talked about her gardens.
She gave me some hens and chicks plants.
Martha
Her age is 84
Madison County, Kentucky

  1. Barbara, This is Really nice, to pay tribute in this way to the rural people who are the real backbone of this country, or any country, real people, living real lives.

  4. This brought tears to my eyes as it reminded me so much of my Aunt Lillian. She was the church lady at Macedonia Baptist Church of Etoile, TX (a tiny crossroads in the piney woods of east Texas)for many, many years. She left this world at age 100 several years ago.

  5. Florence -- I only met Martha once and that was at the rummage sale. She was perky, social, wise, and kind. If we stop and talk to the older folks we meet we can enrich ourselves. I bet your Aunt Lillian was like Martha. I would imagine most of us have a favorite older relative or two in our memories. Thanks -- barbara
