  3. Beautiful picture! The clouds look like they are in 3-D and closer than usual to the ground. Rural vastness...makes me think of being alone. I live out in the country myself and sometimes I enjoy the solitude, other times I hate the long drive to town.

  6. Elora -- I have driven past this lovely setting several times while out and about. It always enchanted me and I wanted to get a photo of it. so two days ago I made it a priority and got a few shots off. Thanks for the comment -- barbara

  7. Birdman -- I could live here also. Yes, paint would be nice. I felt the paint wear indicated they have better places to spend their money right now or they are older and such thing have lost their importance? Somehow I felt it added a dimension of charm to the old place. Thanks for the comment -- barbara

  8. Darcy -- I feel that country and town living each has some great positives. When I took the photo recently, I was reminded of skies in the West. They sometimes can look overpowering overhead all the way down to the horizon -- overpowering but beautiful. -- Thanks for the comment -- barbara

  9. I love this!!! It reminds me of my grandparents' home (God be good to them) save the weathered paint in rural Wisconsin. My uncle has it now and am sure that he's carrying on the tradition of keeping it perfect!

    Happy Mother's Day!!!!

  11. Kay -- thanks for the Happy Mother's Day wish. And my Happy Mother's Day wish is to all daughters of mothers, mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers and ancestral mothers.

What a wonderful ancestral home for you to have in your history. Glad that it is still in the family.

  17. Ohio is peppered with just such lovely old farmhouses. Wonderful patina.

  18. What a magnificent house it must have been in its hay day. Still very pretty, like a cloud dropped to earth.

Did you have a special hat for Saturday?

  19. What a beautiful and large house! Imagine the big families that lived there.

  20. Janet -- When this house was built, big families were common. I believe this was a big farm at one time as there was a large barn off to the side that does not appear in the photo. Thanks -- barbara

  21. Tess -- I do like the patina on this old house. I have an old family photo from Ohio that has a similar look -- thanks for the comment -- barbara

  22. Sheri -- It does resemble the clouds above it somewhat. No I didn't have a special hat for Saturday. I bet since you are into horses that you had a hat! -- barbara
