A FALL GATHERING OF LEAVES

Gathering to discuss this past summer

Saying goodbye to old friends

Some last kicks by taking turns
sliding down the rocks,

And all -- eventually -- settling in to a well deserved rest
after a summer of catching the light

  1. I love the way you recognized such personality in these beautiful leaves! :-) This post made me think of one of my grandmother's favorite poems, October's Party. Wonderful photos and a delightful post!

    1. Your grandmother's October Party was terrific. Sorta the party feeling I got when I saw these colorful leaves lying about. I was out in a beautiful natural area only about four miles from where I live when I took these photos today. Thanks for including the poem and the very nice comments -- barbara.

  2. Even when wet and w/o color, they offer some moments of bliss. Check out my 'ocean of orange' today. Ha!

  3. Lovely, while I've been looking up in the trees, you've found the beauty where all those leaves are falling!

  7. I loved these photos. In the Northwest now I notice unusual colors this year, and you have captured them. I'm seeing a silvery greenish pinkish color I don't remember noticing before. It's already too cold for my taste, though.

    1. Hattie -- These were the most colorful leaves that I have seen in the Portland area this fall. This was a beautiful natural undeveloped area in Portland that had a 40 mile loop walk. For sure, I did not walk the 40 miles. thanks -- barbara
